You don’t take a photograph, you make it.

Availability

As I am a full-time mother and wife, and a part-time photographer, I limit the amount of sessions I book each month. Message me for availability and we will work to fit both our busy schedules. If you are pregnant and wanting a newborn session, it is ideal to contact me at least 2-3 months before your due date. We will schedule tentatively around your due date and I will keep more availability around that time. I value time with my family and this allows me to have a healthy and happy balance between work and my family.

The Newborn Session

Although great images can be captured at any age, newborns are best photographed within the first two weeks of life. This is when babies are the most flexible, sleep heavily, before rashes and baby acne appear, and are most comfortable being posed. Newborn sessions usually last around 2-3 hours. This will allow plenty of time for posing, set-up changes, feeding/nursing, calming baby back to sleep, and of course, time to goo and gah over baby.
I encourage parents and siblings to be part of your newborn images.
I will have your session planned before the session date. I will provide all the outfits and accessories for your session. The Newborn Session is a fully styled session with high quality outfits, accessories, and props. If you have specific ideas, colors, or props you would like to use, please let me know. I want your session to be as tailored to you as possible. Please bring extra diapers and wipes and extra milk. Your baby will eat and go through diapers more than usual during your session.
As much as it feels natural to bathe and feed baby before the session, please skip the bath to reduce dry skin and flaking and wait to feed baby when you arrive.

The Baby/Milestone Session

I will have your session planned before the session date. I will provide all the outfits and accessories for your session. The Baby Session is a fully styled session with high quality outfits, accessories, and props. If you have specific ideas, colors, or props you would like to use, please let me know. I want your session to be as tailored to you as possible.
A cake smash may be added to your session for an additional $50. You will bring the cake and balloons and I will provide decorations and clean-up. We will work together to come up with a theme and find a bakery to decorate a cake to match.

The Child/Family Session

Sessions with me are relaxed and fun. My goal is to capture real life moments, so do not worry if your little one’s mood is not cooperative or their hair is a little out of place. That is when the best moments happen.
Child and family sessions usually last around an hour. Try to schedule your appointment around everyone's happiest time of the day.
I love bare feet and fun accessories! I do not have many rules on outfit changes. A good tip for a child session is to bring a few outfits that show off their personality.

The Baby Plan

The timeline chosen for The Baby Plan has my client's best interests in mind.  Newborns are best photographed within the first two weeks of life as explained above.  The three month milestone is best photographed around four months as your baby will most likely be smiling and able to hold their head up really well while laying on their tummy and while being held.  The six month milestone is best photographed around seven months as your baby will most likely be sitting up all by themselves, grabbing toes, getting up on knees, and showing their cute smiles.

Copyright

We hear the term a lot, but do we really know what it means? When the term “copyright” is used, it is referring to the protection provided by the Federal Copyright Act, Title 17 of the United States Code.
The Copyright Act protects photographers by giving the creator of the photograph (in this case Janna Sagvold Photography) the exclusive right to copy, edit, and distribute the image by sale or transfer.
This Act makes it illegal to copy, scan, edit, or share photographic prints and digital media without the photographer’s permission. Violators of this Federal Law may be subject to civil and criminal penalties.
Because these photographs are a work of art, I wanted you to know about this important copyright protection. By respecting the law, you help protect the photographer’s rights and it also prevents you from being subject to any prosecution. Beyond that it helps make sure that these photographs retain their original value as a work of art!
